Story of the best pizza in Split

Pizzeria „Galija“ is located in the very centre of the historic part of Split and close to the walls of the Diocletian’s Palace. It is the ideal place to rest and enjoy delicious food, after a long stroll through the meandering streets of the old city.

The pizzeria was named after the galley, a ship powered by oarsmen, and used at first mainly as a merchant vessel and later on in maritime battles.Today, we imagine a different galley – one that is an oasis of peace, relaxation and good food, run by our carefully selected staff who is always there for you.

Quite possibly the best slice of lasagna I (and my Italian husband) have ever had. It was creamy. Each bite was heavenly. The hubby had the lasagna and I had the Bolognese pizza, which was also very good.

Excellent service and great food! Initially we were told there was no tables but thankfully a waiter offered us a seat at the bar whilst a table became available which was perfect as we were happy to wait. It was very well priced with two pizzas and two drinks for 30 Euros the Crudo was the standout pizza we had. Worth waiting for a table if busy.

Stumbled across this little gem whilst meandering the streets in Split. What a lucky find. We originally only intended having a quick libation but the food looked so delicious we decided to have a pizza between two. Absolutely delicious 😋. Waiting staff great, food amazing, coffee superb – what more could you ask for?
